It is sometimes a matter of give and take. If you write something and want people to follow, it is sometimes the thing where people feel it is why they choose one before another.
At least you can read and if you find that you want to reply you are rewarded.

I turned my blog DoFollow a long time ago. Its not much work to delete the spamcomments (i never even had any) and it engourages the people to visit your site regulary or check for new posts.

Oh the pros and cons of having DoFollow. Pros : You do bring the readers (I use that word loosely), the traffic, and the attention that you want. Cons: You will get a TON of spam if you have a high PR and your link gets passed around. If this doesn’t work for you, you might want to consider CommentLuv.

Honestly, if the comment isn’t blatant spam, let it go… this is what I did for my own blog. I know I use this dofollow comment technique as part of my SEO, but I try to contribute something legitimate back to the blog.

Do follow Blogs is more preferable for webmaster,who are eager to get backlinks and to be ranked in google search engine.Gathering Backlinks work a lot for their website to be ranked up.Also a nice comment make visitors curious to know more about the commentator,which may make some traffic.

I had a dofollow blog but I had to end up turning comments off altogether because of the amount of spam.

However I have heard that Google is going to start ignoring the ‘nofollow’ tag or that it may be doing so already. Yahoo and Bing also ignore the ‘nofollow’ tag so it will soon be obsolete anyway.

I have been considering joining the Dofollow blog. I think it gives readers an extra incentive to join the conversation. I really like how SEOMoz has implemented Dofollow. They will turn off “Nofollow” on your profile link after you have earned 100 points from commenting. Comments earn 1 point, and an additional point if anyone gives it a thumbs up. You can also lose points if your comment gets a thumbs down, so the community becomes self monitoring.

Actually from SE ranking point of view it like helping each other get visibility, but people get carried away when they are getting a good link and a do follow one and they tend to post irrelevant comments and this leads to nofollow strategy. But do follow link are good for both the sites as long they are responsible and non harassing.

You can find a lot of lists with do follow blogs on the internet. If your blog is on the list and has high page rank, you can get a lot of spam.
