  2. 4images affiliate system

Since a few months i am subscribed in the 4images community newsletter , which is an interesting way to stay updated with the happenings out there . Of course , you can still read about all of it here on my blog :) as well. The newsletter includes product updates of the 4images core gallery , warnings , exploits or upgrade information ; along with the current choicest modifications and 4images templates.

And now , the 4images affiliate system … although i am not much of an affiliate marketer as i would have liked to be , reading all the huge profits they make sitting at home , or in their bermudas at the beach sipping iced tea and what not… but i still always try to create / find options for affiliate links / product options of softwares / services i buy or like. Because those are the softwares and services i also recommend to my clients .

I do wish they however allowed us to withdraw our affiliate income ( when that happens ) in a PayPal account . Currently they have only Direct Deposit , which goes without saying is only for americans ( damn them :P ) , Wire Transfer , which is quite costly , or check – which would take ages to actually happen .

If you subscribe to their newsletter , you probably already know it .

The new version 1.7.6 of the 4images – Image Gallery Management System has been released!

This release comes with lots of improvements, bug fixes and minor changes, e.g.:

* Added possibility to sort by filenames in CP image search form
* Improved download of big files
* Added onchange javascript for “per page” dropdown
* Disabled download button in lightbox if there are no download permissions for all images in the lightbox
* Fixed issue with paging tags
* Fixed missing image name escaping in alt tags of thumbnails
* Fixed redirect bug in admin/admin_global.php
* Fixed problem with brackets in template vars
* Updated URL for ICQ status image
* Fixed sql query in download.php
* Fixed logout problem where guests can delete other guests sessions
* Fixed displaying non-active images on details.php
* Improved download of big files

Theres already a feedback thread on the 4images forum if you are really into German language ;) . Since I am more of the English language speaking crowd , i skipped the first 2 pages . Lol ;) . I guess they really got too many bug reports or frustrations from sites using 4images having large files for download … that they mentioned it twice in their newsletter which i pasted above ;)
One of these days i must learn .DE language to better grasp what all the super members such as jan , nicky , rustynet ivan say in there . *sighs* At least V@no speaks more English . thank goodness for that . :)

I noticed I am quite on the top for the keyword 4images templates . So , I just want to mention – if you are looking for downloading 4images templates and 4images themes , just put down a comment on this blog and I will try to fullfill it if like your request . :) If you like what I make you are free to donate $2-5 – but its optional , and the theme will be free , as long as you abide by the basic rules – i.e. show your love by showing your linky love .

I also know i have not put up the thumbnails or screenshots of the designs I have made till now of 4images themes, but i have my reasons for that . I showed the theme to a few friends of mine and they liked it so much , that they wanted the 4image theme exclusively for their own gallery – so i sold it of to them for some moolah :D don’t blame me , hehe . I will make some other 4images template for this blog again soon .

I have been a fan of 4images , which btw is available from www.4homepages.de and not 4images.com , as you might mistake it if you dont know. I just noticed that I have been using 4images for the past 6 years now . Being an open source software , like many others 4images has its own advantages and some demerits . As a photo gallery software, it is quite versatile and has several end user as well as admin features and options. In the recent versiion which is 4images 1.7.3 i believe, it has captcha and batch resizing inbuilt , which means any image which is uploaded can get cropped and resized as well and there is also option for batch watermarking.

4images also supports integration of user database with various forum database , out of which vBulletin and phpBB comes by default and is supported if i remember. Personally i have managed to keep it integrated with Invisionboard all versions till date now , in my other television forum ( Discusstv). In discusstv I have also succesfully used a modification to make urls seo oriented , using htaccess . But one thing i had found difficult is to leech protect . Other than that , 4images also supports having a gallery of not only images but also Flash files and WMV and different video formats with preview options too .

But all these are common knowledge and may not be of much inetrest to some of you . The good news is I have now started designing 4images templates . You may view a design which i have done here http://www.discusstv.com/gallery/ and another at Sareez.com ( LINK HERE as site is non existant currently ) . But i did that almost 1-2 years back. I have thought of giving away these two templates for free . If i see it gets good response , I will start making more nicer templates for 4images soo. I have already started on a pink colored design. So if you are interested, stay tuned. :)
